Like all nerds, I love Star Trek. Not all episodes may be interesting, but the values and organizing principles of that future society do hold promise for mankind, and like all good science fiction, it featured a lot of technology that once seemed impossible, and which is now an everyday reality, or at least a theoretical possibility.
